Floor Mounted Vibration Isolator

Floor Mounted Vibration Isolator

VIBRATION ISOLATION PRODUCTS

Today, most of sophisticated buildings are provided with air conditioning systems and other equipment to create comfortable working or living environment. However, these mechanical equipment generate vibration, and vibration creates noise which has become a major source of resident’s complaints in modern buildings. Increasing uses of lighter weight construction and equipment located in penthouses or intermediate level mechanical rooms compound the noise and vibration problem. This increases vibration and noise transmission. Not only is the physical vibration in the structure disturbing, but noise which is regenerated by the structural movement may be heard in other remote sections of the building structure.

Tozen vibration and noise control products are designed to isolate or reduce the damaging structure vibration and annoying noise produced by mechanical equipment. Owing to continuous research and development program, Tozen is well recognized as one of the best sources of vibration and noise control products to solve general and complex vibration and noise problems nowadays. Designs of the spring elements comply with JIS B2704 (for semi-permanent use).

Vibration isolators under PTM-A Series are free standing, stable without any house, snubber, or guides and complete with steel cup reinforced rubber cups at the top and bottom. All mounting shall be provide with adjusting cap screw and washer in top cup for leveling and attachment to equipment. Multiple spring models are available. PTM-A Series are available with standard deflection of 25 mm, and available up to 100mm deflection. Load capacity shall be available from 25 to 1,400 Kgs for single spring models, and up to 11,200 Kgs for multiple spring models.

PTM-A Series are typically used to reduce the transmission of noise and vibration from low speed mechanical equipment to building structure. PTM-A Series are used with reciprocating air or refrigeration compressors, close coupled and base mounted pumps, packaged air handling and refrigeration equipment, centrifugal fans, internal combustion engines.

Installation Instruction:

  1. Block or lift up the equipment to a level that the equipment leg or base is 5mm higher than isolator’s operating height (see catalogue). If common base & height saving isolator bracket is used, keep 50mm clearance between the base and floor. Maintain this height until piping installation is completed.
  2. Locate the spring isolator under the hole in equipment leg or isolator bracket. Connect locking cap screw and washer, but do not tighten.
  3. Transfer the equipment weight to the spring by taking two anti-clockwise turns on each leveling bolt around the unit until springs are compressed just enough to remove the blocks.
  4. Tighten the locking cap screw to lock the assembly.

Vibration isolators under PTM-C Series consist of high deflection, laterally stable springs assembled in telescoping cast iron housing complete with a 8 mm thick ribbed noised absorbing pad bonded to bottom and with internal or external adjusting and leveling bolt as a part of top assembly. PTM-C Series are available in standard deflection of 25 mm with load capacity from 25 to 1,400 Kgs. PTM-C Series are typically used to isolate vibration and noise and capable to limit movement during start-up and shutdown of equipment.

Installation Instruction:

A.For PTM-C (External level adjusted) spring isolators

  1. Take out the leveling bolt and lock nut from the top of the isolator.
  2. Lift or block up the equipment leg or isolator bracket to 5mm higher isolator’s operating height (see catalogue) and slide the isolators into position. Put the levelling bolt & lock nut back into position.
  3. Transfer the equipment weight to the spring by taking two clockwise turns on each leveling bolt around the unit until springs are compressed just enough to remove blocks.
  4. Tighten the lock nut to lock the assembly.

B.For PTM-CH & PTH-CG (Internal level adjusted) spring isolators

  1. Check that the internal levelling nut is adjusted up to underside of the top plate.
  2. Lift or block up the equipment to 5mm higher than isolator’s operating height (see catalogue) and slide the isolators into position and adjust the levelling nut until the top plate is in contact with equipment base. Insert fastening screws (if used) through the equipment base into top of the mounting and tighten.
  3. Transfer the equipment weight to the spring by taking two anti-clockwise turns on each leveling bolt around the unit until springs are compressed just enough to remove blocks.

Vibration isolators under PTM-D Series consist of laterally stable springs assembled into a welded steel housing assembly designed to limit vertical movement of supported equipment. Housing assembly shall be of fabricated steel members and consist of a load transfer plate at the op complete with tapped holes, adjusting and leveling bolts, vertical restraints, isolation washers and a bottom plate with non-skid noise isolation rubber pad and holes provided for anchoring to supporting structures.

PTM-D Series are shipped with standard deflection of 25 mm, and available up to 50 mm, with load capacity from 100 Kgs to 11,200 Kgs. PTM-D Series is typically used to isolate noise and vibration generated by equipment having varying weights during operations such as boilers, chillers, and cooling towers. PTM-D Series are also used when limitation of equipment motions due to wind load is required.

Installation Instruction:

  3. Check alignment of the base so that restraining bolts are central with clearance holes in the restraining bracket.
  4. Transfer the equipment weight to the spring by taking two clockwise turns on each leveling bolt around the unit until springs are compressed just enough to remove blocks.
  5. Adjust restraining nuts to give 2-3mm clearance between the resilient washer and the underside of the restraining bracket. Check the levelling again after the system is filled with water.
  6. Tighten the lock nut to lock the assembly.

PTM-G vibration isolators are one-piece molded neoprene with two cast-in load transfer steel plates incorporating bolt, spring washers, and lock nut at the top and the bottom load surface for connections to supported equipment and supporting structures. Available load capacities are from 20 Kgs to 600 Kgs. PTM-G Series are recommended for isolating vibration generated by small pumps, vent sets, low pressure packaged air handling units. This series is normally selected when minimized initial costs are desired.

Vibration isolators under PTM-GP series are made of one-piece molded neoprene with one cast-in load transfer steel plate at the top and base plate at the bottom. PTM-GP series are available with load capacity from 30 Kgs to 450 Kgs. PTM-GP model is recommended for isolating vibration produced by small pumps, vent sets, low pressure packaged air handling units.

PT-MAT are produced from a high quality elastomer and molded with crossed double ribs. PT-MAT are available in 3 thickness at 55 durometer, and designed for 6-8 Kgf/cm2 loads with different static deflections. To obtain a greater deflection, two pieces of PT-MAT can be stacked together with a steel plate in between. PT-MAT are used to isolate noise and high frequency vibration produced by equipment located on grade or in non-critical areas.
